Video report and description of graffiti removal from roller shutters
(The text is an interpretation of video material)
Graffiti have become a problem No. 1 for both Russia and the rest of the world. Probably, everyone faced such a demonstration of vandalism. Unfortunately, these inscriptions affect the aesthetic image and historical architecture of our city.
MENDELEEV Ltd., research and production company, has developed a line of materials to address this problem. Today we are going to demonstrate how to remove graffiti from roller shutters in a fast, cost-effective and safe manner. The base is grooved metal plates covered with a thin layer of powder paint.
Air temperature today is -4° C.
Approximately half a year has passed after this graffiti was made.
- Step We use Old Paint Remover No. 281 to remove graffiti from the roller shutters. The composition does not provoke corrosion as is does not contain neither acids nor alkalis. Spray the remover evenly to a graffiti element, trying not to overrun the picture in order to reduce the consumption rate of Old Paint Remover No. 281.
- Step After application, the active solvents of remover disrupt adhesion between a paint coating of roller shutters and a layer of graffiti. Exposure time is several minutes. We see that paint starts growing, or “blistering”.
- Step Remove emolliated layer with a rag. It is more convenient to flush the disrupted layer under pressure (using K?rcher-type high-pressure cleaners). Pay attention that metal roller shutters painted with a thin layer of powder paint are not damaged.
Old Paint Remover No. 281 has numerous applications. For example, it can be used to remove adhesive coat left by scotch or advertising posters on different surfaces. Our compound can be used in schools, colleges, local authorities, parks, entertaining centers, shopping malls and other places that face graffiti problems.
Thank you for your attention, we will glad to help you! Let’s make our city clean together!
Old Paint Remover No. 281 for Graffiti, Marks and Adhesive Coats
APPLICATION: designed to remove thin hard-to-destruct paint coatings following a sprinkling or dipping method. The composition eliminates graffiti, marks and adhesive coats left by scotch or advertising posters from painted limestone and terrazite plaster, painted and unpainted brick laying, metal structures, folding shutters, granite, marble, limestone, concrete, etc.
RESTRICTIONS: Temperatures below +5?С compromise significantly removal efficiency and increase exposure time. Do not apply the remover to a wet surface. Avoid contact with plastic items (glass units, doors or door studs), electrical insulation, construction PVC fittings and rubber goods. Keep away from fire! Keep out of reach of children!
APPLICATION: Apply Old Paint Remover No. 281 to graffiti, marks (try to follow ornament edges) or adhesive coats with a brush, a wag or a spray diffuser from bottom to top and expose for several minutes. As an alternative, you may dip the parts to be treated into the working solution. During the operation mind a time factor, i.e. the period from application of Old Paint Remover No. 281 till removal of dissolved graffiti or adhesive coats. Insufficient curing dissolves old coating only partially, while excessive exposure leads to evaporation of solvent and deeper penetration of graffiti or glue into the surface.
Remove dissolved (disrupted) graffiti layer with a rag, a brush or an applicator from bottom to top or from edges to center. Several removal procedures with increased exposure time may be required to remove thick (multilayer) graffiti and marks. Cover the treated surface with a textile compress saturated with the remover and place a stretch film over it to enhance efficiency of the product. You may use high-pressure vessels to remove dissolved (destroyed) paint from very porous surfaces (if applicable) with a radial water jet. These recommendations apply fully to the adhesive coats left by scotch or advertising posters.
Caution! Volatile components that evolve during application have a moderate irritating effect on conjunctiva and upper respiratory airways and a light narcotic action. Wear overalls, rubber gloves and safety goggles when working with the product. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with plenty of running water. Store and transport the product in tightly closed containers at -20°С to +30°С. Do not mix with other agents. The manufacturer ensures that the product complies with the specifications provided that the transportation, storage and application requirements set out in the manual are observed.
