General Headquarters Arch
Intarsia Group won the tender for restoration of the General Headquarters Arch and the Chariot of Fame statuary. Refined triumphal arch decorated with rich stucco was preserved owing to the skilled restorers who removed carefully the old paint layer after layer using Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A. The composition is easy to use and does not cause corrosion of concrete or metal. It removes up to 4 paint layers at a time. Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A, manufactured by Mendeleev Ltd. enabled the restorers to perform great work both in terms of complexity and volume during a short period of time.
Alexander Palace, Pushkin
The ceremonial palace constructed according to the project of Italian architect Giacomo Quarenghi was restored using Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A. It is a jellylike composition which is applied to a surface with a brush and cured for 30 minutes. Then the emolliated layer is removed with an applicator. The World Monuments Fund (WMF) received the grant for restoration of the Alexander Palace in 1996. It started with roofing work followed by restoration of interior rooms and exterior of the building at the final stage. Interior decorative elements, walls made of artificial marble, arched ceilings and marble window sills, windows and doors – all of this was reconstructed and restored.
Two rows of columns restored with Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A, make up a magnificent walk-through Corinthian colonnade. The project was supervised by the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev who visited Pushkin and reviewed the results of restoration works carried out for the 300th anniversary of the city. The President wrote in the guestbook that he admired fast and high-quality restoration of the palace.

The Imperial Palace was reconstructed using Old Paint Remover No. 158 which removes up to 5 layers of paint coating at a time and does not dry out during 4 hours subject to compliance with the consumption rate.

To prepare the domes before gilding, the experts used Read Lead Paint as the most efficient anticorrosive coloring agent. This fast-setting composition designed by Mendeleev Ltd. is based on alkyd-urethane resins and has excellent painting properties: high adhesion and coverage.

Nicholas Gymnasium named after N.S. Gumilev in Tsarskoe Selo was reconstructed using Old Paint Remover No. 222. To remove paint from the walls of the federal monument, the experts used the composition which is recommended for multilayer paint removal with disruption of interlaying adhesion. It may be applied both to vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Music school No. 16 located at 42, Bolshoy Prospekt, Petrograd Side, was reconstructed using Old Paint Removers No.158 and SP-67 grade А.
The two-storied building standing out with its prominent exterior face is a former private residence of A.M. Vasiliev which was built in 1878-1879 according to the project of architect V.G. Shalamov. Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A, which removes delicately the multilayer paint coatings from exterior decorative elements, helped return the original look to the local architectural monument. The composition is easy to use and recommended for paint removal from the sunny side of hot surfaces in the summer period.

147, Nevsky Prospekt – exterior of the building before restoration. In 2001 the corner house was included into the List of Newly Discovered Sites of Historical, Scientific, Artistic or Other Cultural Value by the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks. However, it was included into the restoration program “Fasady Pererburga” (Saint Petersburg Exteriors) only in 2011.

147, Nevsky Prospekt – exterior of the building after restoration with Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A. Lapin Enterprise, a restoration and construction company which refines the facades in the historical center of Saint Petersburg, has been widely using Dimet® Old Paint Removers since 2006. The restorers preserve the cultural heritage sites due to accurate compliance with the application technologies of Old Paint Removers No. 158, Sp-67 А and No. 222 manufactured by Mendeleev Ltd.

32, Kirochnaya St. – The guest house of Chamberlain and State Counselor A.V. Ratkov-Rozhnov was restored with Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A. The jellylike remover was applied over the decorative exterior elements, such as rustication grooves, bas-reliefs and consoles, and removed old paint from plaster just in 30 minutes.

13-15, Pestelya St., Old Paint Remover SP-67, grade A was applied by the restorers to remove paint from exterior surfaces.

13-15, Pestelya St. Central bay window is supported by two half-length figures of atlantes. Decorative elements were restored using Old Paint Remover No. 161. This composition is made of semi-volatile and high-boiling solvents and is free of methylene chloride which emolliates gesso. Paint removal from a shaped surface requires high professionalism of a restorer. Old Paint Remover No. 161 is designed to relief such a meticulous work. The composition is applied with a brush or a roller and dries out on a surface not earlier than after 24 hours. It removes up to 10 layers of paint coating at a time, including those with imperfect interlaying adhesion.
