An enterprise having a metal articles powder painting line faced with an intractable task. A large batch of steel pop-rivets was discarded. In a short period of time a quality removal of the powder epoxy-polyether coating had to be executed. This paint and varnish coating is destroyed in both in liquid agents – Powder Paint Remover No. 860 – by dipping, and in jelly-like ones – Powder Paint Remover No.133 P – by applying with a brush (this composition is more practically applied to large-size items). There is, however, an alternative: Method of dipping the parts painted with a powder paint into the jelly-like composition Powder Paint Remover No.133 P. The result exceeded all expectations.

In Pic.1 steel rivets painted with powder epoxy-polyether (hybrid) paint are shown. The rivets are designed for undetachable junction of metallic articles.

Steel pop-rivets painted with powder paint dipped into the jelly-like Powder Paint Remover No.133 P. The agent is designed for cold chemical removal of all types of powder coatings (epoxy, polyether, polyurethane, epoxy-polyether, polyacrylate etc.) It removes both thermoreactive and thermoplastic powder paints and varnishes. Powder Paint Remover No.133 P is corrosion nonreactive, does not contain acids and alkalis, therefore the item’s dimensions will not change.

Powder Paint Remover No.133 P softened the paint layer. Exposure time was 30 minutes. Please note that this agent is most appropriate for powder coating removal from large-size articles. In this case Powder Paint Remover No.133 P is applied with a brush, a roller or a hand pulverizer (for flower spraying).

In Pic.4 one can see that the powder layer film can be easily removed mechanically. It is more convenient to flush the disrupted layer with a radial water jet (using Karcher-type high-pressure cleaner).

Pic.7 – To degrease pop-rivets use a specialized technical inhibitory detergent for preparation of metallic surfaces for painting FAS-104

Preparation of a working solution is made gradually admixing warm water (30?C) to FAS-104 concentrate and stirring up continually. The agent is deluted with water at ratio of 1:50 to 1:100. FAS-104 possesses a number of advantages in comparison with widely used degreasing organic solvents:
