Pirogov multiprofile clinic is a medical establishment, providing a wide range of surgical operations, from plastic to the most complex cavitary and cardiac ones. Although the clinic is situated in the historical part of the city, its facade is in a poor state: All covered by graffiti, the porous surface of the brickwork is saturated with soot and smut contamination. Historical appearance of the building was restored by Top Service Cleaning Company, engaged in professional cleaning of engineering structures and architectural monuments using modern agents and equipment.

Pic.2 – A wall contaminated by soot.

High grade contaminations are seen in Pic.2 Only a specialized cleaning agent like FAS-109 Alpinist can cope with that. Unfortunately, FAS-105 and Chudodey-Poliprom (by Himitek company), alkaline compositions failed to succeed.

Pic.3 – Agents used for the building facade cleaning.

In heavily contaminated areas FAS-109 Alpinist was applied undiluted. This composition is organic acid-based, pH=5.

Pic.4 – FAS-109 Alpinist application.

FAS-109 Alpinist is intended for plastered, glazed and painted surfaces, natural and artificial stone, silicate and chamotte brick, concrete, glass, plastic and both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Product consumption: minimum 200 ml per sq m.

Pic.5 – FAS-109 Alpinist application onto the most heavily contaminated facade areas.

FAS-109 Alpinist is designed to perform cleaning operations without falsework or scaffold-towers (high-rise cleaning). Exposure time varies from 10 to 25 minutes with further high-pressure water jet until foaming stops.

Pic.6 – FAS109 Alpinist exposure.

Single-phase facade treatment with FAS-109 Alpinist. During repeated treatment the agent must not be applied onto a wet surface (pores of the material are filled with water, which prevents the cleaning agent repeated penetration).

Pic.7 – Brickwork treated with FAS-109 Alpinist.

FAS-109 Alpinist is distributed all over the surface. In Pic.7 mud, soot, smudge and other contaminations are emulsified by the agent and washed by a high-pressure Karcher vessel water jet.

Pic.8 – Washing the worked-out agent away with a high-pressure vessel.

After 30 minutes exposure FAS-109 Alpinist is thoroughly washed away with a precisely aimed high-pressure water jet.

Hose washing is less effective than the high-pressure one.

Pic.10 – Cleaning facades with any degree of contamination using FAS109 Alpinist.

As a rule, building socles, cement fillets and decor surfaces need a repeated treatment.

Pic.11 – The brick wall after chemical treatment with FAS109 Alpinist.

After cleaning, the brickwork is often treated with a hydrophobic impregnation ВASE – HYDROPHOBE No.1, which provides optimal vapor permeability and prevents excessive evaporation. The agent can be used all year round as it does not contain water. Both dry and wet surface treatment is possible.

Repeated treatment can be performed both on wet and dry layer of the strengthening agent. Hydrophobic effect comes into force directly after composition drying out.

1897-1899 – Architect Karl Karlovich Shmidt
Until the end of the 19 century there was a stone house and wooden constructions on the plot.
